Why Sigma?

Hi, I’m Mike O’Toole. Here’s How I Got Here
December 4, 2025Why It’s Time to Get Rid of Alteryx
AlAlteryx was once a trailblazer in the self-service analytics space, but in today’s data landscape, it’s become increasingly clear that the platform is no longer keeping up. Innovation has stalled, pricing has soared, and for many organizations, Alteryx simply doesn’t fit into the vision—or the budget—of a modern, cloud-native data stack.
At Maverick Data, we’re seeing more and more companies reach a tipping point: they’re ready to reduce dependency on Alteryx but don’t have a clear path forward. That’s why we’ve built a Alteryx to SQL conversion tool—a scalable, automated tool that migrates your Alteryx workflows into SQL-based logic that runs in your cloud data warehouse.
The Alteryx Problem
Today’s data teams are not looking to bring in more SaaS platforms – they are looking for consolidation. The evidence is all around – look at Microsoft and Fabric, Databricks and AI/BI. Companies are looking for consolidation from a suite of SaaS tools into a unified and integrated data platform.
Another issue with Alteryx is that organizations often misuse low/no code ETL tools like Alteryx. Instead of using these Analytics Engineering tools within a Fusion Teams strategy to quickly mock up data modeling to pass along to Data Engineering teams for translation to the CDW for consumption, they are often left running as a permanent data pipeline solution.
Additionally – using Alteryx for a permanent ETL tool for your lines of business also means that your business logic is not centralized or governed. This means that your organization could have several different sets of logic for the same KPI, which not only makes things extremely confusing, but it also makes your analytics products far less valuable.
Add on top of this that Alteryx is a very expensive tool to use ($5k/m/u) – and you can see that there is a problem here to solve.
Our Solution – Minimuum
Minimuum is our proprietary Alteryx to SQL migration platform that allows organizations to instantly create SQL queries from existing Alteryx workflows. These SQL queries can then be pushed into your CDW using the SQL logic. This drag and drop tool is easy to use and exponentially cheaper than either an Alteryx license or migration services. Using Minimuum can help speed up your platform migration while boosting the ROI on your new platform.
For companies looking to get off of Alteryx due to excessive costs, one of the largest factors in migrating to a new platform is the services cost of migration. Often, the consulting services cost of migrating off of Alteryx is much more than the cost savings of the new platform – especially for large Alteryx footprints. Our migration automation tool significantly reduces the cost of migrating to your new platform – OR it can greatly reduce the number of licenses needed, ultimately reducing your yearly Alteryx spend.
Migration Cost Reduction
Let’s consider a Alteryx migration scenario where a potential client is looking to move all their current Alteryx workflows to the new platform. There are generally 3 different ways that a migration would occur.

Most migration projects do not migrate 100% of legacy workflows node for node – here are some ways that companies determine which workflows need to be migrated to the new platform.

Instead of migrating legacy workflows to the new platform, Minimuum automates the Alteryx workflow to SQL. This has several advantages for the Client.
